Did you know that one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime? It’s a fact we simply can’t ignore anymore.
When breast cancer claimed her mother’s life in 2000, former Southeast Missouri State University women’s volleyball coach Cindy Gannon founded Dig for Life to help other women fight this disease. Dig for Life is a series of fundraisers to educate women in the region about the importance of early breast cancer detection though regular mammography screenings.
HOW IT HELPS:
Co-sponsored by Saint Francis, Southeast Missouri State University and funded by donors, the Dig for Life program has provided more than 3,200 mammograms to the community since its inception. All proceeds provide valuable screenings at no cost to those in our region who otherwise couldn’t afford them.
Here are a few ways you can honor a loved one, or show your support by helping others in their fight:
- All month long: Various Share Days at local restaurants!
- Saturday, October 29: Pink Up Redhawks Football Game vs. Austin Peay at 1 pm. Come see the team rocking their special jerseys! There will be a pregame tailgate and jersey auction winners will be announced.
